Getting to know the Trine family and their habitat, a wonderful oasis just outside L.A. nestled in the coastal port of California: Long Beach.
Known for his powder-coated finishes and clean, geometric pieces, Eric Trine is an object-based designer and commercial artist exemplifying the California-cool aesthetic. Living in Long Beach with his wife, Heather, and daughter, Evie (3), Eric designs furniture amongst other things in his self-titled studio, which he has worked out of for two years.
From triangular perforated tables in a multitude of saturated choices to carefully crafted woven leather chairs, Eric describes his style through the imaginative question: What if Charles Eames, Buckminster Fuller, and David Hockney were surfing buddies? It is through this light-hearted approach that he has defined his vision to create high-quality pieces from a conceptual standpoint, while remaining affordable.
Eric’s adeptness has steadily evolved since 2008 when he and Heather began furnishing their first apartment together; when DIYs became advanced DIYs and other people started taking notice. We had the pleasure of photographing the Trine trio in their Southern California home, where Eric cites their circular collectibles among his favorite items.
