In early December, we had the privilege of joining Sebo Walker at his BANGARANG exhibit’s grand opening party at The Purple Door, in Portland, Oregon.
Portland is well-known for its culture, art, and community—and Sebo stands out within that scene as an unconventional artist, professional skateboarder, and community-builder. In fact, it’s a very-Sebo-Walker-move to share his solo exhibit with the works of 64 children and youth.

Art played an important role in his own young life. Sebo’s mother was a stained-glass artist and painter who included and encouraged him to create alongside her—a practice he now cherishes sharing with his own children, Louis and Poppy.

To help Sebo and his mission to foster creativity in kids, we showed up with 50 pairs of Jeffersons for attending kids to customize with their own expression and authentic style. From start to finish, the opening party was filled with chatter and laughter, kids excitedly showing off their work to loved ones and celebrating the creativity of their peers. “The whole event was so special,” said Chelsea, organizer and owner of The Purple Door.
Good news: you haven’t missed your opportunity to check out BANGARANG. Stop by The Purple Door until January 5th to see Sebo’s vibrant, expressive works and perhaps purchase a piece of youth-made art, benefiting Color Outside the Lines—an organization connecting foster and at-risk youth with opportunities to participate in the arts.
